SuperMailer: Desktop Newsletter and Personalized Mail Merge Software for Windows
SuperMailer is a desktop program that lets you build HTML or plaintext newsletters in an integrated WYSIWYG editor, personalize them with recipient placeholders, track opens and link clicks, and send them via SMTP or supported HTTP APIs, with a free version for up to 100 recipients.
SuperMailer: Newsletter and Bulk Email Software for Windows
SuperMailer is a desktop program for creating and sending HTML and plain text newsletters, personalized mass emails, and serial mail merge messages. Recipient data is stored on the user's own computer rather than on external servers. The software is licensed as on-premise software with a one-time license fee and no monthly charges.
Editing and Personalization
Messages are composed in a manner similar to a word processor. Emails can be created in HTML or plain text, and the HTML part can be designed in an integrated WYSIWYG editor or with a wizard, which allows newsletters to be created without HTML knowledge. Multipart emails are supported. Placeholders in the text are replaced with recipient-specific data during sending, and attachments, including individually generated personalized attachments, can be included.
Tracking and Subscription Management
- Opening statistics and counts of clicks on hyperlinks measure the results of a mailing campaign.
- Google Analytics can optionally be connected.
- Free PHP, Perl, and ASP scripts automate subscriptions and unsubscriptions and support the double opt-in procedure.
- The integrated SuperMailer-Bounce module retrieves hard bounces from POP3, IMAP, or local Outlook folders and removes the affected addresses from the recipient list.
Sending Methods
Emails are sent via SMTP. Since version 15.00, bulk emails, newsletters, and transactional emails can also be sent over HTTP using the Amazon SES HTTP API, the Gmail API, or the Microsoft Graph API. The HTTP option is intended for setups where the firewall blocks SMTP access, as HTTP sending is slower and more limited. The Gmail API requires a separate OAuth2 app in Google Cloud. OAuth2 client secrets for Microsoft 365 expire approximately every two years and must then be renewed.
Additional Functions
- Spintax creates multiple text variants from a single template.
- Contacts can be imported from the Microsoft Cloud, including their categories.
- Newsletters can be published in an archive with an RSS feed or as an online version.
- Text and images can be generated with OpenAI when an API key is provided.
- A MySQL export script imports recipients from MySQL databases.
System Requirements and Licensing
SuperMailer is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions and runs on Windows 7 and later. On a Mac, it can be used only within a virtual machine running Windows. A freeware version supports up to 100 newsletter recipients. Larger mailing lists require a paid license, which includes free software updates.
